“If I could have lunch with anyone from history, I’d choose Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, the leaders of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. In my opinion, the Lewis and Clark Expedition is the best leadership case study in American history. At a time when the leading scientists of the day still thought wooly mammoths roamed the continental interior, Lewis and Clark led about 30 other men across the continent and back on foot. To put this in perspective, we knew more about the moon when Apollo 11 touched down on the lunar service than Lewis and Clark knew about the interior of our country when they stepped off in 1804. They were completely isolated, alone, and unrelenting in their perseverance. I would like to know how they inspired their men to accomplish what they did. “
